NEW COACHES NEEDED

The T&C Soccer program offers kids the opportunity to play this great game in a family oriented environment of learning and sportsmanship. T&C welcomes your interest in coaching, whether as a head coach or assistant coach, to ensure we create a successful, positive and fulfilling experience for our youth. Coaching is not only a wonderful service, but many find it highly rewarding and enjoyable.

HOW TO BECOME A SOCCER COACH

The most important thing to consider in becoming a soccer coach is if you have an interest in helping kids play the game.  If being on the field having fun with the players and helping them develop sounds appealing, read on.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

For recreational soccer, the emphasis is on making it a fun experience for all the players, and teaching very basic skills.  You don’t have to know the game as much as you want to be organized and communicate well with the kids and parents.

To coach at the competitive development level, it’s helpful to know the game reasonably well and to have coached several seasons.

If either the recreational or developmental approach to coaching sounds good to you, the next step is to apply.

STEPS TO REGISTER

There are two steps to becoming a T&C soccer coach.  First register using the button below with T&C through our SportsEngine system.  It’s very brief and enables you to to be assigned as a coach in our SE App.

Register to Coach/Volunteer

Next, you’ll receive an email to apply to coach through GotSport, the system used by the soccer governing organizations.  They will run a criminal background check and you’ll be given additional education, ultimately leading to being certified to coach.

CLINICS

Coaches Meetings/Clinics for the Fall 2023 Recreational Soccer season will take place at the Pavilion next to field #22. T&C Field Map can be found here. All recreational coaches should attend one of these meetings/clinics.

US SOCCER COACHING CURRICULUM

Here is a link to the US Soccer Coaching Curriculum. I encourage you to to spend some time reading this, especially the Age Group Organization section starting at page 43. It will help you better understand what to focus on when coaching specific age groups.

MOJO SPORTS APP

MOJO Sports has a great app that you can use (for free) to get great session ideas. I have also set up some age group specific teams for coaches to join at the links below. Our Academy trainers currently use this for their teams.

COACHING EQUIPMENT

We have some shared coaching equipment that you can use in both the green and white soccer sheds. If you use the equipment please put it back at the end of the practice. We are moving to a new uniform/equipment provider for the Fall where we will be looking to include a coaches kit for all new coaches. Thank you!
